Travis Werner
Travis Lee Werner, 77, of Hilo, died July 22, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 28, 1939, in Roswell, New Mexico, he was a journeymen electrician, private pilot, owner of a solar panel system company, and U.S. Navy veteran.
Friends may call at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Keaukaha Canoe Club (Hilo Bay Front) for a celebration of life and potluck.
He is survived by wife, Sylvia Werner; sons, Scott Werner, of Missouri, and John Werner, of Hilo; and brother, Chris Werner, of Maui.

Susan Keanu
Susan Keanu, 77, of Pahoa, died Aug. 11, 2017, at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu. She was born Aug. 11, 1940, in San Bernardino, California.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Aug. 22 at Ballard Family Mortuary in Hilo for a 9:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at noon at Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by sons, Aaron Keanu, Austin Keanu, and Alan Keanu; daughter, Amanda Keanu Pulea; brother, Frank Caldera; sisters, Betty Oneal and Libby Yabarra; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Eugene Christiansen
Eugene Leroy Christiansen, 69, of Keaau, died Aug. 1, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Aberdeen, Washington, he was a retired computer programmer with Costco and a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by daughter, Michele (Jason) Taylor, of Tucson, Arizona; brothers, Tom (Marilyn) Christiansen, of Vancouver, Washington, Ken (MaryLu) Christiansen, of Bellingham, Washington, Bill (Lisa) Christiansen, of Elma, Washington, Jim (Christine) Christiansen of Puyallup, Washington, and John (Shirley) Christiansen, of Montesano, Washington; sister, Anne (Bob) King of Seattle; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kayoko Hanano
Kayoko Shimizu Hanano, 83, of Kapaau, died Aug. 4, 2017, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a retired account clerk for the County of Hawaii, member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau, Senior Citizens and Na Kupuna O Kohala Halau.
Private services were held.
She is survived by husband, James Hanano, of Kapaau; sons, Jason (Stephanie) Hanano, of Hawi, Keven (Cynthia) Hanano, of Lihue, Kauai; daughters, Jennifer (John) Colson, of Kula, Maui, and Kaky (Geoy) Purdy, of Waimea; brother, Itsuji Shimizu, of Honolulu; sister, Nancy Nelson, of Midland, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
